Jot Fau, artist-made frame, wood, embroidered, textile, pigment prints #2
Jot Fau born in Belgium, in 1987. Graduated with a Masters from Marseille’s Fine Art school in 2012. She questions the concept of identity, of doing and becoming. Of searching and leaving on expeditions. Of remaining and renewal. Of departures without ever arriving. She calls herself harlequin, and her works are a kind of reflection of it. That is why she often uses biographical motives, to give new life and meaning to already existing stories that have so far taken place on the level of the soul, materializing it with the help of visual metaphors. The shapes and forms in which it comes are very eclectic. The dominant medium in Jot Fau’s art would seem textile, but it takes on the most diverse varieties and the artist seems to operate it and merge with other materials perfectly because she is still open to experimentation. Going from sculptures to installations, objects, drawings, videos, poetry, photographs, and sound. Nevertheless, all of it finds its origin in that one mountain of material in which she is digging.
